Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is still undergoing chemotherapy for cancer discovered after an abdominal therapy she revealed today in a statement released alongside an all-new photograph of the royal .
The news was shared by the royal at a press briefing during which she confirmed she will be at the Trooping the Colour celebrations tomorrow, after a heartfelt talk with Prince Charles .
Kate’s chemo is not over, but she has been working from home and told the gathered press she has good days and bad days in a poignant statement , but she’s learning to be patient and to take each day as it comes.
Kate said: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.
“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”
She added that she’s been blown away by kind messages and she’s making good progress.
Kate disclosed her battle with cancer since March. In an emotional three-minute clip, she reached out to the nation, expressing gratitude for the overwhelming support she’s received.
Kate shared that a significant abdominal surgery led to the discovery of cancer by her doctors. She continued: “My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”
Rumours about the Princess’ well-being have been rampant following her absence from the public eye since Christmas Day, 2023, sparking a media storm and prompting the hashtag #WhereisKate to trend on social media.
In her heartfelt video address, Kate mentioned that discussing her health with her children was a top concern for her and Prince William.
“As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits. Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance too,” she conveyed.
Kate ended her message on a note of appreciation for the public’s support, which she described as incredibly meaningful, and shared her eagerness to return to her duties when her health permits.
