This year, we’ve said goodbye to artists of all sorts. From musicians, to actors, to athletes, we’re paying tribute to the celebrities we’ve lost over the past year and remembering as the year dwindles and we gear up for 2025.
Liam Payne
Liam Payne, the former One Direction band member, died at 31. Payne was found in a hotel in Argentina and died after falling from his balcony. He had been vacationing there with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Song Jae-Rim
The South Korean actor died this year at the age of 39. He was found dead in his apartment in Seoul by a friend.
Quincy Jones
Music legend Quincy Jones died at 91 this year. He was a musician who collaborated with artists like Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, and much more, with his body of work being one of the most impactful in pop music history.
Fernando Valenzuela
Fernando Valenzuela , the Mexican baseball player that became a Dodgers legend, died earlier this year. He was 63.
Gavin Creel
Gavin Creel , an actor that starred in shows like “American Horror Stories” and plenty of Broadway productions, died at the age of 48. He was diagnosed wit ha rare form of cancer called metastatic melanotic peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma.
Gena Rowlands
The beloved actress known for her work in films like “The Notebook,” “Gloria,” “A Woman Under The Influence” and much more was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease , and died earlier this year.
Shannen Doherty
Shannen Doherty , known for her work in the hit series “Beverly Hills, 90210”, died this year. She had breast cancer and died a decade after her diagnosis.
Shelley Duvall
Shelley Duvall , known for her work in films like “The Shining,” “Three Women,” and more died in July of this year. According to her partner, her death was related to complications from diabetes.
Maggie Smith
The beloved British actress Maggie Smith died earlier this year. She was 89 years old and starred in many incredible films and TV shows, including, the “Harry Potter” series, “Downtown Abbey,” “Gosford Park,” “Sister Act,” and more.
Chance Perdomo
In April of this year, Chance Perdomo , the actor known for his work in “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and “Gen V,” died in a motorcycle accident. He was 27 years old.
