Every move the Princess of Wales makes will be scrutinized moving forward.
Kate Middleton‘s return to public life was heralded by the palace, public, and press alike. However, as she continues to battle cancer, Kate’s reappearance on the royal roster is a “double-edged sword” for Kensington Palace.
Every move Kate Middleton makes will be scrutinized
Daniela Elser of News.com.au writes that Kate Middleton’s every move will be scrutinized moving forward. After her Trooping the Color appearance, Kate will be carefully watched as she undertakes her next public project.
Elser writes, “Going forward, every event where we might hope to see the Princess of Wales in the coming months will now come with an anticipation and a hopefulness – and therefore weight on her – that was not there before her Trooping return. It’s a double-edged sword because that ‘everything else’ could also end up translating to raised hopes being dashed again and again.”
She continues, “Crown Inc.’s palpable need for her to get back out there and to fly the proverbial flag. Going forward, every event where we might hope to see the Princess of Wales in the coming months will now come with anticipation and hopefulness – and therefore a particular strain and load on her – that was not there before her Trooping return.”
There will be a ‘weight’ on Kate Middleton that wasn’t there before her cancer return
Months after learning Kate Middleton had abdominal surgery and a subsequent cancer diagnosis, royal watchers relegated themselves to life without the Princess of Wales. Her royal return was speculated but not confirmed.
Therefore, while there was always hope Kate would return to public life, uncertainty remained. Now, after a stunning victory lap during Trooping the Color, Kate is expected to keep the appearance train in motion.
Daniela Elser writes, “And it’s that ‘everything else’ that concerns us here. Going forward, every event where we might hope to see the Princess of Wales in the coming months will now come with an anticipation and a hopefulness – and therefore weight on her – that was not there prior to her Trooping return.”
She continues, “It’s a double-edged sword. Because that ‘everything else’ could also end up translating to raised hopes being dashed again and again. Kate now has to juggle doing what is right for herself and her body with knowing what a thrill it would be for the masses – and what an extraordinary boon to her father-in-law, the King – for her to show up.”
What’s next for the Princess of Wales?
In an Instagram post dated June 14, Kate Middleton shared details of her cancer battle and news of a potential return to public life. The Princess of Wales’s full royal return remains undetermined.
Kate Middleton revealed health details in a message attached to a photo shared on social media on June 14, 2024. She posed outdoors on the grounds of her Windsor home, looking away from the camera.
Kate writes, “I am making good progress. But as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.”
“On those bad days you feel weak and tired, and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”
She writes that her treatment is “ongoing” and will be “for a few more months.” Kate adds, “On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”
In the coming months, Kate said she hopes to join “a few public engagements over the summer. But equally, I know I am not out of the woods yet.”
Kate Middleton continues to recover at the home she shares with Prince William. They are parents to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
