Heart Surgeon Speaks Out About the True Cause of Heart Disease

How the Experienced Heart Surgeon Defines the Causes of the Heart Diseases

The medical reports in the USA show that about 610,000 people die from heart disease every year [1]. Generally, cardiovascular disease affect almost 31% of all diseases registered.

Approximately 25% of the population is taking statin medications and many additionally follow a reduced fat diet.

Knowing the true causes of heart health is very important in order to find the way how to solve it. So, here you can find some words from a heart surgeon, who speaks out on the true cause for heart disease.

Dr. Dwight Lundell is a heart surgeon with at least 25 years of experience, and he wrote ‘The Cure for Heart Disease’ and ‘The Great Cholesterol Lie.’ According to his article published in Prevent Disease, 2012, he shared his newfound understanding that a healthy lifestyle prevents numerous health problems. He explained that consumption of natural, whole and unprocessed foods is what prevents, for example, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, and Alzheimer’s disease. Lundell is known about his dedication to heart disease prevention.

He shares that the only accepted therapy in practice was prescribing medications to lower cholesterol, and a die, which are actually deviations that could result in malpractice. He strongly believes that statins are actually not helping in heart diseases.

WHAT REALLY CAUSES HEART DISEASE

Inflammation.

The inflammation is natural and essential in both protecting and healing and according to Dr. Lundell, the chronic inflammation is just as harmful as acute inflammation is beneficial [3].

The level of inflammation is manifested as a response to chronical exposure to toxins that our body was never designed to process.

Without knowing many of us are feeding our inflammation, by following the recommendations outlined by our healthcare system and governments. In such a case we are causing repeated injury to our blood vessels by purchasing these heart & stroke approved and nutrient-lacking low-fat products.

FATS ARE NOT THE ENEMY

According to Dr. Lundell, this injury and inflammation in our blood vessels are caused by the low-fat diet. [3]. Moreover, by consuming an excess of carbohydrates (flours and sugar) and many other products that contain these ingredients, we are also consuming far too many omega-6 rich foods (corn, peanut, canola, soy, and sunflower).

When the intake of omega-6 is out of balance with omega-3, the cell membranes produce chemicals known as cytokines, which directly cause inflammation.

Even worse, any excess weight that you are carrying from eating these foods also creates overloaded fat cells. These cells release large quantities of pro-inflammatory chemicals that increase the injury caused by having high blood sugar.

So you should avoid excessive intake of potato chips or chocolate chip cookie and prevent creating heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure, the condition that increases the inflammation.

SUGAR AND INFLAMMATION

What role does sugar play in inflammation?

When we consume our favorite simple carbohydrate, in whether form, our body digests these carbohydrates into smaller and simpler forms such as glucose. The glucose molecules trigger the pancreas to secrete insulin hormones in order to push them into cells for energy. Insulin actually works to regulate the amount of glucose in the blood, but if a cell is already full and does not need glucose, it is rejected. In this case, the blood sugar rises, producing more insulin and now extra glucose is converted to fat and stored in the blood and in different parts of the body.

As sugar molecules are able to attach to a variety of proteins that can injure the blood vessel wall and sets off inflammation. The passages of the blood, also become more difficult due to inflammation, which can lead to vascular damage and poor circulation of the blood and thus increases the risk for stroke and heart attacks [4].

REGENERATE & REPAIR

Dr. Lundell states that what we choose to consume directly affects our health and well-being.  For that reason, he recommends choosing more foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.

People should be focused on consuming fresh vegetables, in different colors and put an emphasis on the leafy greens. Low-glycemic fruits (berries) should be also in that list, as they are rich in antioxidants. However, all forms of vegetable oil (soy, corn, canola, peanut, sunflower, safflower) should be eliminated, doesn’t matter are they organic or not.

Animal fats and are much less likely to cause inflammation than the touted ‘healthy oils,’ as they actually contain less than 20% omega-6. So, Dr. Lundell recommends choosing whole food ingredients that your grandmother used to prepare food.

The people who eliminate the inflammatory foods and include more fresh options, are increasing their nutrient intake and are working to reverse years of damage in their arteries.

Remember that the people are what they eat, and their choices plays a huge role in creating either further damage or repair and regeneration.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR HEART BEATING:

– CHOOSE THE RIGHT OILS/FATS

– GET IN ANIMAL BASED OMEGA-3

– OPTIMIZE YOUR INSULIN LEVELS

– BE IN MOVEMENT

– CREATE HEALTHY OUTLETS FOR STRESS AND NEGATIVE EMOTIONS

– OPTIMIZE YOUR VITAMIN D LEVELS
